Strand House Valentines Dinner
Well the dinner is in full swing and going well. For the first time the Rye Bay Scallop Festival and Valentines Day coincide so we are having a Valentines Day Scallop Dinner to celebrate. Candle light, open fire place and kir cocktails are really setting the mood and everyone is looking forward to a great evening.
The scallops were caught day before yesterday and are really fresh and plump at this time of year and are served with a fragrant Oriental sauce and just a touch of salad. We serve them with the ‘corals’ as they look so nice and the corals are a delicate touch when really fresh.
If you did not get enough of them at dinner them you can have scallops again for breakfast with black pudding and crispy bacon.
Main course is roast beef from the organic farm next door with roasted seasonal vegetables or fish pie made with fish caught in Rye Bay and landed by local fishermen or a mushroom risotto laced with Italian truffle oil.
To follow are a chocolate plate for two to share (or not as the case may be) or a creme brulee with passion fruit and a cheese board of local cheeses from Kent and Sussex to end the meal.
And so to bed (well for the guests anyway – I am up at 6.30am to start cooking breakfast)
