Honey harvets at Strand House

August is here and that means the honey harvest! The bees have done really well despite the bad weather and we were able to take 3 ‘supers’ off the hive which means that we might get 50 lb of honey. The hive had grown into a skyscraper with two brood boxes and 4 supers 🙂

Wildflower garden for the summer

Last year we planted an annual wildflower meadow along the side of Rye Bay Cottage and it was a huge success with all the bees and other insects.
